2018 is here and I'm writing professional profiles for just about five years! It's amazing! The transition from what résumés looked like then and what they should look like now. I have changed the look and the feel of how people approach the job hunt
I have to say that while I can talk plenty, I have never written a blog but today I will give it a try.
This editing, proofreading and résumé writing job I started has taught me a lot about people skills, face to face customer service and what customers really need and want in this field. They all want different things, yet, they want the same. The difference is what tailors them to who they are, their dreams, hopes, goals. The same thing they have in common, is they need excellent customer service, a support system. I believe I have provided that. I have met many personalities and I have learned something from each and every one of them. Working with the customer means be patient and always have an open mind. Listen to them carefully. The customer tells you what they need and then you provide the service while you learn something about them and the people around us.
This year, 2014, I was truly excited to participate in the American Corporate Partner's advisory group (www.ACP-Advisornet.org) helping veterans transition from military to civilian status. I have the utmost respect for our military. I feel like I am giving something back by offering to help them with résumé building, editing and cover letter drafts. I can offer guidance on how the résumé is handled in today's workforce. To date, it has been very rewarding. It's exciting to know someone can be placed back on track with a simple résumé update. I start with the 'blanket' résumé and then tailor their skill sets to the job they apply to. It makes the job searcher feel better that they now have a career track profile in place. That's it for today. Feel free to leave comments. Thanks all!
